I live in the beautiful Blue Mountains in NSW. Originally I trained and worked as a clinical psychologist. I became seriously involved in photography with my first journey overseas. At that time I was shooting film on 35 ml and medium format cameras. I have a background in traditional photographic techniques as well as modern digital approaches. After working in both medium format film and dark-room processing & printing, I ran a wedding photography business for more than 10 years at the National Trust , Everglades House and Garden in Leura, NSW Australia. I am delighted to return to the Everglades House & Garden Gallery for my current Exhibition. “ I remember taking each of these images and how each of my senses was engaged at the time - the aromas of spice in Istanbul’s spice market, the sand blowing in my face as I sat with my tripod in the Sossevlei desert, the texture of the tile work on buildings in Samarkand and the starry sky above yurts in a Nomad’s camp.” Sensing Place is an exhibition which reveals my passion for travel and the natural environment as well as the visually arresting or hidden objects located within it. I believe that the creative work of the photographer is to portray noticed things from a different view and as well to portray the unnoticed. Thanks to Nadege Lamy for her support and excellent curation & to John Penfold (Abbey Framing) for his sensitive mat and moulding selections.
